Saving energy is the order of the day. Aldi also wants to do its part to ensure that Germany gets through the winter well. That’s why the discounter is now changing its opening times and closing earlier. The update will start in November 2022.
Shopping until late in the evening: for many customers from Aldi north soon this will no longer be possible. The discounter reacts to the energy crisis and adjusts the opening hours of many markets.
Because of the energy crisis: Aldi Nord closes many branches at 8 p.m
The change comes into effect from November 1, 2022. According to the discounter on Twitter, numerous branches would then already be open close at 8 p.m. With this they want to “make an active contribution to saving energy”, explains Aldi Nord. The tweet does not reveal which brands are specifically affected. Aldi Nord is likely to publish a list of branches in the next few days.
the Opening hours of the Aldi Nord stores vary from region to region and vary. Some branches close at 8 p.m. anyway, while others only close two hours later at 10 p.m. So whether you are affected by the reduced opening hours at Aldi Nord depends entirely on where you live. According to Aldi Nord, the energy saving measure should initially apply to the winter of 2022/2023.
Tegut Managing Director Thomas Gutberlet had recently suggested that supermarket opening hours should be generally restricted in order to save energy. At least in part, those responsible at Aldi Nord now seem to be following this line.
The history behind Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd offers many interesting facts:
Aldi Süd branches will soon be closing earlier?
Whether too Aldi Süd will close earlier in the future is not yet known. There is still no statement from the discounter, which operates its branches in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate and parts of Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia.
by the way: The latest offers from Aldi Süd will soon also be available via WhatsApp.
