Leaked iPhone 14 Pro specifications
Apple will launch its newest flagship iPhone 14 series this week. The latest leak, Apple will eliminate the SIM card slot on some models of the iPhone 14 series.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said Apple intentionally removed the SIM card slot and replaced it with an eSIM and removable SIM card slot on some iPhone 14 models.
eSIM itself is a digital SIM that allows users to activate a cellular plan without having to use a physical nano-SIM card.
The plan to remove the SIM card slot has previously been rumored several times. Apple itself has considered removing the physical SIM card slot starting this year or next year for some models.
“Apple will give eSIMs an even bigger boost this time around, with carriers preparing to direct users to embedded digital SIM cards rather than physical ones,” Gurman wrote in his newsletter.
Currently eSIM technology continues to grow rapidly although it is not yet available in all countries.
That means some iPhone models with a SIM card slot may remain available for at least a few years in the middle of the transition.
For information, iPhone 13 models sold in Apple Stores and on Apple.com no longer have a nano-SIM card in the box. Users can activate their cellular plan via eSIM by turning on their iPhone, connecting to a Wi-Fi network, and following the instructions below. screen.
Apple will announce the iPhone 14 lineup at a special event at the Steve Jobs Theater on Wednesday (7/9/2022) local time.
Other products expected to be announced include Apple Watch Series 8 models, new Apple Watch SE, Apple Watch Pro, and new AirPods Pro.
