Apple Releases Safari 155 Technology Preview With Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements

Apple today released a new update to Safari Technology Preview, an experimental browser that Apple first introduced in March 2016. Apple designed the Safari Technology Preview‌ to test features that might be introduced to future release versions of Safari.

Safari Technology Preview‌ release 155 includes bug fixes and performance improvements for Web Inspector, CSS, Rendering, JavaScript, Media, Scroll to Text Fragment, Web API, Loading, and WebDriver.

The current release of Safari Technology Preview‌ builds on the Safari 16 update and includes support for features built into macOS Ventura such as Live Text, Password Lock, Web Extension enhancements, and more.

The new version of Safari Technology Preview‌ is compatible with machines running macOS 13 Ventura, unlike previous versions of Safari Technology Preview‌, but no longer works with macOS Big Sur.

The Safari Technology Preview‌ update is available via the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences to anyone who has downloaded the browser. The full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple’s goal with Safari Technology Preview‌ is to gather feedback from developers and users about its browser development process. Safari Technology Preview‌ works side-by-side with existing Safari browsers and although it’s designed for developers, it doesn’t require a developer account to download.
