App Store Prices Rise in Europe Next Month

Apple today announced that, on October 5, the prices of App Store apps and in-app purchases will increase in all countries and regions that use the euro. The increase is the result of the current weakness of the euro against the US dollar.

Prices for apps and in-app purchases will also increase in Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, and Vietnam, according to Apple.

For those unfamiliar with how App Store pricing works, Apple gives developers a preset rate they can value for their apps, and this rate will increase for the euro next month. For example, tier one will increase from €0.99 to €1.19, while the maximum tier is set to increase from €999 to €1,199, according to Apple.

Apple periodically adjusts App Store price levels around the world and more information about these increases can be found on the Apple developer website. Some developers may adjust their app’s price tier to match the increase.

Automatically renewable subscriptions are not affected by price increases.
