Samsung Smart TVs will soon offer a new way for customers to purchase, store and view NFT (non-fungible tokens). Digital art platform ArtToken is reportedly coming to Samsung smart TVs as a dedicated app.
ArtToken NFT TV application developed “on Samsung’s expanded SmartThings platform […].” according to ArtToken CEO Hong Ji-sook (via Korea Herald). The app is being showcased at IFA 2022 in Berlin for a few days, but it’s unclear when it will be available for download. However, the platform can display users’ NFT art collections on Samsung smart TVs, although the details of which smart TV models support the platform are unknown.
Not Samsung’s first partnership with the NFT platform
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time NFT and Samsung smart TVs have come together. Earlier this year, Nifty Gateway announced the integration of its NFT platform with Samsung’s 2022 QLED and Neo QLED premium TVs. The company also launched standalone apps for Samsung’s The Frame and MicroLED TVs.
The ArtToken NFT platform may be available for the same Samsung TV models as the Nifty Gateway. NFT enthusiasts already have access to thousands of digital artworks and collectibles via Samsung smart TVs, but more choice doesn’t hurt. According to a Samsung official quoted by Korean media, “The best way to simply showcase the advantages of TV technology is to digitally express a natural scene or artwork realistically.”
Samsung Smart TVs are now more than just a portal to your favorite shows and movies. The company released the Gaming Hub for its 2022 smart TVs earlier this year, enabling cloud gaming for almost anyone, and Samsung’s lifestyle TVs can take advantage of its rich art collection through the Art Store.
